The Coachmen Chaparral 275 RLS travel trailer recently received a “Best Buy’ rating from Consumers Digest magazine. The spacious yet lightweight travel trailer by Coachmen Recreational Vehicle Co. got the Consumers Digest rating in the midrange category of travel trailers.
Consumers Digest deemed it “among the lightest and easiest-to-tow trailers, it provides the perfect package for those looking to step up from the entry-level, towable RV.” The magazine, which has a mission of identifying outstanding values in a complex and often confusing marketplace, noted the Chaparral’s many attributes, saying, “It features a queen-size bed, a tub/shower combination and satellite-TV wiring. A slideout extends the living area. The kitchen includes a three-burner stove/oven and a 6-cubic-foot double-door refrigerator. It has a 6-gallon water heater and 30,000 BTU furnace.”
Other features in the 32-foot travel trailer with a 12- by 3-foot slideout include an entertainment center with optional flat-screen television, deluxe beveled edge countertops, upgraded lighting package and laundry chute. It has an aluminum frame and weighs only 6,707 pounds.
A dealer in Washington state advertising on the rvSearch.com website has a 2004 Chaparral 275 RLS priced to retail at $26,999.
“It’s a lot of travel trailer for not a lot of money,” said John Stockman, Coachmen’s towable products sales manager. He said the Chaparral 275 RLS was introduced as a 2004 model and is based on a popular floor plan of a Coachmen fifth-wheel trailer.
“The 275’s rear lounge floor plan has a slideout with a 65-inch sofa and 45-inch jumbo dinette,” Stockman said. “It opens up the entire living area. It’s packed with features and high-end amenities such as box valances, luxurious fabrics, a big bathroom and a really big bedroom. You’d expect to pay a lot more money for this travel trailer.”
The award from Consumers Digest is “quite an honor,” he said. “Consumers Digest does a very thorough job of evaluating products, whether it’s a bicycle or an RV. We are very proud of the Chaparral and the award.”
