Hundreds of motorhomes and other RVs manufactured by Coachmen Recreational Vehicle Co. will be seen on the roads in northern Indiana and southern Michigan during the next several days.
Coachmen RV enthusiasts from all over the U.S. and Canada will be in the area to participate in the Coachmen Caravan Club’s 35th annual rally June 24-28 in Centreville, Mich.
According to George Jordan, director of the Middlebury, Ind.-based Coachmen Caravan Club, about 1,500 people are expected to attend this year’s rally. “They’ll be coming from as far away as California, Washington and Canada to attend the five-day event,” Jordan said.
Some early birds began parking their rigs at Centreville’s fairgrounds on Tuesday (June 18). Many rally activities will take place on the fairgrounds and Jordan is pleased with the grounds’ capabilities. “The fairgrounds have all of the facilities needed for a rally event. They also have all of the necessary facilities for RV set-up and hook-up.”
Caravan members who arrive early for the rally will be able to enjoy Centreville’s Covered Bridge Days Festival Friday and Saturday (June 21 and 22).
There also will be a host of bus tours and opportunities to visit other places of interest in northern Indiana including the College Football Hall of Fame in South Bend, the University of Notre Dame, the flea market in Shipshewana and the Studebaker Museum in South Bend.
There also will be daily trips to Middlebury for those interested in touring Coachmen’s manufacturing facilities.
