Coachmen was the retail market-share leading travel-trailer brand in 2002 by a narrow margin over Trail-Lite, according to Statistical Surveys Inc., an independent market research firm.
The Coachmen brand, built by Coachmen Industries Inc., Elkhart, Ind., had a 5.5% market share followed by Trail-Lite, built by R-Vision Inc., Warsaw, Ind., which had a 5.4% retail market share last year, Statistical Surveys reported.
Close behind Coachmen and Trail-Lite was Fleetwood Enterprises Inc.’s Prowler brand with a 5.1% share.
The other travel-trailer brands in the Top 5 last year were the Dutchmen Classic by Thor Industries Inc. subsidiary Dutchmen Manufacturing Inc., Goshen, Ind., with a 4.5% retail share and Fleetwood’s Wilderness brand at 3.5%.
Rounding out the Top 10 travel-trailer brands were: Forest River Inc.’s Wildwood at 3.5%; Springdale by Thor Industries’ Keystone RV Co. at 2.8%; Fleetwood’s Terry at 2.8%; K-Z Inc.’s Sportsmen at 2.7% and Forest River’s Salem at 2.7%.
