Coachmen Industries Inc. will report a loss for the quarter ended Dec. 31, although the company will post a profit for the entire year 2000.

Coachmen’s modular housing segment was profitable during the October-through-December period but its RV operations lost money due to dealer inventory adjustments and sagging consumer confidence negatively impacting the retail market.

However, Coachmen was pleased with the number of orders it received from dealers during the industry’s national trade show in Louisville in late November and with dealers’ response to the new models the company introduced during the Louisville show.

“Due to the success of these new offerings, dealer orders were measurably ahead of the previous year,” according to the company.
