Clydesdale Publishing Inc., Sebastian, Fla., will launch the Coleman Campground and RV Park Directory next year, the company announced.
Clydesdale has licensed rights to use the Coleman name from The Coleman Co. Inc., Wichita, Kan., and, it has purchased Anderson’s Campground and RV Travel Park Directory, according to Robert Bouse, sales and marketing director for Clydesdale.
The Anderson purchase was finalized in late February, Bouse said.
“The Anderson’s directory provides us with a strong base in the Eastern United States from which to launch our innovative new campground directory,” he said. “Although Anderson’s only represents 11 of the 25 eastern states the 2003 Coleman directory will cover, they have served that market extremely well and have provided campground owners and campers with a refreshing regional alternative.”
The Coleman directory will borrow many of the characteristics of the Anderson’s directory and will work closely with former Anderson’s owners Skip and Judy Deegans “to ensure all existing Anderson’s customers are made aware of the change and are comfortable with the new Coleman Campground and RV Park Directory.”
Bouse said the new Coleman directory will be developed in two phases. The first, in 2003, will include free campground listings in most of the states east of the Mississippi River. The 2004 edition will include private campgrounds nationwide.
Coleman has already licensed its name for a directory of publicly operated campgrounds – The Coleman Campground & Recreation Directory — a listing of National Forest campgrounds, distributed by the Globe Pequot Press.
Bouse says initial response from campground operators has been positive for the Coleman Campground and RV Travel Park Directory, considering the new directory’s “innovative distribution concepts,” its full color reproduction and the fact that the new guide is licensed to such a respected name in the camping business.
