The RV/MH Heritage Foundation Inc. announced that the contract for construction of the first phase of the new Hall of Fame facility was signed by representatives of the foundation’s board of directors last week.
According to a press release, Almac-Sotebeer Construction Co. has been chosen as general contractor for the project, which will be completed in three phases as funds become available.
The new facility will be situated on 40 acres along the Indiana Toll Road in northern Elkhart County.
The builder has estimated that site work and preliminary construction operations could begin as early as June, with completion of phase one in the spring of 2006.
A formal groundbreaking ceremony for the new 65,000 square-foot building will take place Aug. 1 in conjunction with the induction ceremony for the hall of fame class of 2005.
The RV/MH Heritage Foundation was founded in 1972 and moved into its current home on Benham Avenue in Elkhart in August 1990.
