The wholesale market for conversion vehicles continued dwindling in January, particularly in the case of pickup and sport utility vehicle (SUV) conversions, according to data gathered by the Recreation Vehicle Industry Association (RVIA).
Shipments of van conversions, the largest portion of the conversion vehicle market, did significantly better than pickup and SUV conversions in January. Van conversion shipments from the factories to auto dealerships slipped 6% lower in January to 3,100 units, the RVIA reported.
However, deliveries of converted pickups fell 43% in January to 800 units and converted SUV shipments plunged 80% during the first month of 2002 to only 100 units.
