The dramatic shrinkage of the conversion vehicle market continued during November, according to data gathered by the Recreation Vehicle Industry Association (RVIA).

The number of van conversions ordered by auto dealers declined 28.6% in November to 3,500 units and the wholesale market for van conversions contracted by 42.3% during the first 11 months of 2001 to 41,700 units.

Meanwhile, shipments of converted pickup trucks fell 66.7% in November to 700 units and plunged 57.3% during the first 11 months of 2001 to 14,000 units.

The number of converted sport utility vehicles shipped in November also fell 50% to 300 units and declined 37.3% during the first 11 months of 2001 to 4,200 units.
