The wholesale demand for conversion vehicles cooled in June, according to the Recreation Vehicle Industry Association (RVIA).
In the largest category, van conversions, shipments from manufacturers to auto dealers declined 18% in June to 4,100 units, the RVIA reported. However, van conversion shipments were up 6.3% during the first half of this year to 23,700 units.
Shipments of converted sport utility vehicles (SUVs) increased 25% in June, but that was to only 500 units, compared with 400 units delivered to dealers during June 2001. During the first half of this year, shipments of converted SUVs were down 14.3% to 2,400 units.
Meanwhile, deliveries of converted pickups declined 11.1% in June to 1,600 units and shipments of converted pickups were down 21.1% during the first half of this year to 7,500 units.
