The dramatic shrinkage of the conversion vehicle market continued during May, according to data gathered by the Recreation Vehicle Industry Association (RVIA).
The number of van conversions shipped from manufacturers to auto dealers fell 46.8% in May to 4,200 units. During the first five months of this year, the van conversion wholesale market shrunk 52.7% to 17,300 units.
Meanwhile, shipments of converted pickups fell 50% in May to 1,600 units and converted pickup deliveries were down 53.3% during the first five months of this year to 7,700 units.
Deliveries of converted sport utility vehicles (SUVs) also declined 33.3% in May to 400 units and converted SUV shipments were down 29.4% after the first five months of this year to 2,400 units.
