The sharp decline in shipments of conversion vehicles continued during August, according to data gathered by the Recreation Vehicle Industry Association (RVIA).
Shipments of converted vans, pickups and sport utility vehicles (SUVs) declined 31.1% in August to 9,300 units, compared with 13,500 units shipped a year earlier.
After the first eight months of this year, total conversion shipments were down 20.8% to 85,900 units, compared with 108,500 delivered to auto dealers during the same period a year earlier.
Van conversion shipments were down 35.9% in August to 5,900 units. After the first eight months of this year, van conversion deliveries were down 25.2% to 55,500 units.
Shipments of converted pickups were down 6.5% in August to 2,900 units, but deliveries were up 2.8% during the first eight months of this year to 25,600 units.
Converted SUVs experienced the greatest decline, the RVIA reported. Shipments of converted SUVs were down 58.3% in August to 500 units and deliveries were down 48.9% during the first eight months of this year to 4,800 units.
