The conversion vehicle industry’s downward spiral continued in January with a 42.9% decline in shipments, according to data gathered by the Recreation Vehicle Industry Association (RVIA).

A total of 5,200 conversion vehicle units were shipped from manufacturers to auto dealers during January 2001, compared with 9,100 units delivered during January 2000, the RVIA reported.

Van conversion shipments were down 45% in January to 3,300 units delivered, the RVIA reports.

Deliveries of converted pickups were down 41.7% in January to 1,400 units and shipments of converted sport utility vehicles were down 28.6% to 500 units.
