The Campground Owners of New York (CONY) honored executive administrator Robert “Bob” Klos during a banquet at the conclusion of CONY’s 43rd Annual Conference and Trade Show Nov. 4 in Corning, N.Y. Klos is retiring at the end of this year after 32 years in the job.
John Doldo, of Jones & Doldo General Insurance, was master of ceremonies for the banquet. Klos’s successor, Donald Bennett Jr., hosted a “This Is Your Life” style testimonial in which friends and colleagues shared anecdotes involving Klos. Delegations from several surrounding state associations as well as several past CONY presidents attended.
Klos said he was overwhelmed by the program, which remained a surprise until the afternoon of the banquet when he began to see people from around the country show up who normally would not be attending a CONY meeting.
Representatives from 70 CONY campgrounds attended the conference, which included a trade show featuring 35 vendors.
A roster of speakers were also slated at the event, including Linda Profaizer, president of the National Association of RV Parks and Campgrounds (ARVC), financial adviser Sal Bonettie and Rob Schutter Jr., president and CEO of Leisure Systems Inc.
In a general session for all members, CONY general counsel and lobbyist Peter O’Connell brought members up to date on the status of proposed legislation affecting the campground industry in New York.
Officers and directors for 2007 also were installed during the CONY meeting.
