Rocket RV called on some star power to kick off last weekend’s grand opening of its new dealership in Tanner, Ala., as country music legend Trace Adkins and his girlfriend, Victoria Pratt, fraternized with customers and signed paraphernalia Friday morning to help promote the event.
“The opening went really well,” related Brent Guyton, general manager for the dealer which is part of a larger company that now operates four retail locations spearheaded by Chris Brown. “As a whole, the traffic was great. I’m not sure if it was because of the grand opening or Trace Adkins. It was most likely a combination.
“Any time you have somebody with that kind of name recognition, it’s obviously advantageous for your business. They couldn’t have been more cordial and I certainly appreciate them taking the time to be here. They were actually at the dealership from around 9:30 until noon. It certainly provided great exposure for our company in a new marketplace.”
Rocket RV, which carries a mix of towable and motorized product from Jayco Inc. and Airstream Inc., is strategically positioned to draw customers from Tennessee as well as the Huntsville and Birmingham areas in Alabama.
“It’s a good location for us,” Guyton said. “This is a pretty strong RV market that we’re trying to tap, and having Trace on hand for our opening was definitely a boost for us.”
Guyton noted that Adkins is also an RVer, owning a Jayco Eagle HT fifth-wheel. “He, of course, owns a bus that the band tours in, but he also has been a long-time RVer,” he related. “That really helps as he is familiar with the lifestyle and was able to relate to our customers.”
Adkins and his band are set to embark on his next tour and will be playing for a sold-out show in Oxford, Ala. next weekend.
