California Travel Parks Services Inc., a for-profit unit of the California Travel Parks Association (CTPA), and Friend Communications Inc., a new internet technology services organization led by former executives of Fleetwood Enterprises Inc., have teamed up to work on both member and consumer aspects of the California Travel Parks Association’s website.
Under terms of the agreement, Anaheim, Calif.-based Friend Communications will offer CTPA member campgrounds three packages with options including website design, web hosting and e-commerce solutions such as front office management and real-time Internet reservations.
Friend Communications will host both CTPA’s member website, www.ctpanews.com, and consumer website, www.camp-california.com, at no charge for one year. Then, if enough parks sign up as clients for one of the three levels of service that Friend offers, CTPA Services hosting will continue at no charge. However, if there isnt enough interest, CTPA will pay Friend for hosting the sites.
Friend also will create a new search engine that aids the consumer in finding parks that meet exact requirements, as well as providing web management tools for CTPA staff and members to allow them to manage the web content.
According to Friend Communications President Gary Pace, the service is the first in the industry to combine real-time Internet reservations with sophisticated, web-based front office management tools. “Other products and services force campground owners to upload inventory to the Internet,” reports Pace. “With our system, everything is centralized, and our customers maintain control of their complete inventory, using a single operation.”
Says CTPA Service President Bob Ludwig: “We are excited about the opportunities that Friend will offer to our members and our association. Our agreement with Friend Communications lays a groundwork and infrastructure for our website that we could never have done by ourselves.”
