Cummins Inc., a supplier of generators and diesel engines to the RV industry, reports it lost $82 million during the second quarter.
The loss during the April-through-June period of this year compares with a profit of $61 million that Cummins earned during the same period last year.
Cummins’ sales of engines for motorhomes and light-duty trucks declined 34% to $151 million during the second quarter.
Its power generation sales increased 4% to $384 million during the second quarter.
Cummins’ total second quarter sales declined 17% to $1.46 billion.
During the first half of this year, Cummins lost a total of $108 million on sales of $2.81 billion. During the first half of 2000, Cummins earned $103 million on sales of $3.42 billion.
