CURT Group companies UWS and LUVERNE are marking anniversaries this year, according to a press release.
UWS, a manufacturer of storage carriers and truck accessories, has been in operation since 1981 while truck, commercial van and SUV accessories supplier LUVERNE is marking its 55th year.
Some of the latest product introductions for Eau Claire, Wis.-based UWS include a low-profile version of the company’s truck side tool box and a secure lock under tonneau chest box. The low-profile side box is designed to match its low-profile crossover tool boxes and features a patented RigidCore foam-filled lid and extra-thick aluminum construction. The Secure Lock measures 16 1/2 inches tall to be compatible with most truck bed tonneau covers. It has dual-locking twist handles for maximum security and convenience, and it also comes with a RigidCore lid and extra-thick aluminum build.
LUVERNE was founded by Bud Heck, Forest Jennings and “Doc” Martin in Luverne, Minn., 20 miles from Sioux Falls, S.D. Its first product was a heavy-duty, painted steel bumper designed for pickup trucks in agricultural settings.
In the 1970s, the company expanded its warehouse footprint and distribution network to Iowa, Kansas, Nebraska, Wisconsin, Montana and Utah while adding heavy-duty grille guards and running boards to its product line.
In the 1980s, LUVERNE moved to its new manufacturing facility in Brandon, S.D., on a 206,000-square-foot, eight-acre campus. In the 1990s, the company added tubular grille guards, nerf bars and side entry steps.
