The University of Michigan’s Dr. Richard Curtin has been named the Recreation Vehicle Industry Association’s (RVIA) new market forecaster, according to the RVIA’s Market Information Committee.
Curtin, the director of the University of Michigan’s Survey Research Center in Ann Arbor, has served as a consultant to the RVIA for 20 years on the subject of consumer sentiment and demographic trends.
Now, he also will be the author of the quarterly RVIA industry forecast publication RV Roadsigns.
Curtin replaces author and economic consultant John DeWolf, who retired recently.
Curtin’s first forecast, for the Winter 2002/2003 issue of RV Roadsigns, is scheduled to be released in early December.
The market information committee selected Curtin because of “his history with the RV industry along with the credibility he has earned in consumer research.” He was one of three candidates considered by the committee.
“We believe Richard’s strong relationships with the RV industry, the automotive industry and consumer research in general are impeccable credentials and we look forward to working with him in this new capacity,” said RVIA Vice President of Administration Mac Bryan.
The methodology Curtin will employ is very similar to DeWolf’s, which was another factor in the decision, Bryan added.
DeWolf provided forecasts for the RV Industry for 21 years – since the inception of RV Roadsigns. RVIA plans to recognize DeWolf for his years of service to the industry at its Annual Meeting in Maui, Hawaii, March 6-10.
