Daimler Trucks North America announced it has named Roger Nielsen as the company’s new president and CEO.
According to a press release, Nielsen will oversee Daimler and its various brands, including Freightliner Trucks, Western Star Trucks, Thomas Built Buses, Freightliner Custom Chassis Corp. (FCCC) and Detroit Diesel Corp., effective April 1.
He succeeds Martin Daum, who became chief of Daimler Trucks’ global business earlier this month.
Nielsen has been chief operating officer of Daimler’s North American truck operations since 2001 and was responsible for the company’s manufacturing network.
He has worked for the truck maker since 1986, first as an industrial engineer and has since had various jobs within in the U.S., as well with Daimler’s commercial vehicle business in Germany.
“Roger Nielsen brings a rock-solid product, manufacturing and sales background to this position paired with a razor-sharp focus on technology, quality and customer service. He has an excellent track record as an influential leader in the industry,” Daum said.
