Class A motorhome builder Damon Motor Coach, Elkhart, Ind., announced an increase in plant production rates for its gas and diesel product lines.
According to Damon President Bill Fenech, the increase is due to recent retail activity stemming from new floorplan introductions at last year’s Louisville Show.
Fenech said the company also will add to its work force, currently around 400 people, to accommodate the growth.
“We received a large increase in orders compared to the previous year (at Louisville), followed up by strong activity at winter retail shows,” Fenech said. “We’re seeing some good optimism out there – people are buying. This has positioned us to increase production rates.”
Fenech said the Thor subsidiary introduced several products in Louisville that have been well received in the market, including a front-kitchen floorplan in its mid-line diesel Tuscany.
Jackson Center, Ohio-based Thor Industries Inc. acquired Damon in September 2003 and Fenech was named president last August.
