Dan Gamel RV Centers, a dealership with several locations in California’s Central Valley, plans to open a dealership in Bakersfield sometime in February, according to The Fresno (Calif.) Bee.
The Gamel dealership, which achieved around $200 million in sales revenue in 2002, operated in Bakersfield until 1995, when it closed its Bakersfield store to focus resources on opening a dealership near Silicon Valley in Morgan Hill.
But now that RV sales are expected to continue on an upward trend, Gamel decided to add another location and return to Bakersfield, according to the newspaper.
Already, there are two Dan Gamel RV Centers locations in Fresno, two in Modesto, one each in Chico and Rocklin, in addition to the Morgan Hill store.
Gamel added that he believes he was the No. 1 retailer of Fleetwood Enterprises Inc. units, selling $160 million-worth of Fleetwood product last year, he told the newspaper.
The last time Gamel was Fleetwood’s No. 1 dealership was in 1994, he said.
