Dan Pocapalia, one of the founders of KIT Manufacturing Co., recently passed away in Long Beach, Calif., after being diagnosed with cancer. He was 95.
Considered a pioneer in the travel trailer and mobile home industry, Pocapalia formed KIT with Dan and Bill Worman and remained CEO until the age of 87. He was inducted into the RV/MH Hall of Fame in 1997 and was also named one of the “100 Most Influential People in the History of RV Industry” by RVBusiness magazine.
KIT Manufacturing produced towable RVs and manufactured homes, including the classic KIT teardrop travel trailer, from its production facility in Caldwell, Idaho. Pocapalia also wrote a book “I Love a Challenge” that details a half-century of KIT, which he self-published in 1994. The company closed operations in 2003.
