RV dealership profits were, on average, up more than 30% when the first seven months of this year are compared with the same portion of 2001, according to consultant firm Spader Business Management.
The average large dealership, which the Spader firm defines as those with more than $10 million in annual sales, experienced a 38.5% increase in net profits through July 31 to $699,423.
Meanwhile, the average mid-size dealership, which the Spader firm defines as having $5 million to $10 million in annual sales, saw its net earnings climb 34.9% higher during the first seven months of this year to $284,092.
The average smaller dealership, which the Spader firm defines as having less than $5 million in annual revenue, experienced a 40% increase in net profits through July 31 to $150,832.
The mid-size and smaller dealerships were more profitable despite the fact their new RV unit inventories were smaller, in dollar terms, as of July 31, when compared with July 31, 2001, the Spader firm also reported.
The average mid-size dealership had a new RV unit inventory valued at $1,686,369 as of July 31, which was 4.7% smaller than its new unit inventory valued at $1,770,141 as of July 31, 2001.
The average smaller dealership carried a new RV unit inventory valued at $941,007 as of July 31, which represents an 8% decline from its new unit inventory valued at $1,022,879 a year earlier.
Only the large dealerships, on average, carried bigger new RV unit inventories. The increase was 8.4% to $3,942,037 as of July 31, compared with $3,635,725 as of July 31, 2001.
All three categories of dealerships had increases in new RV unit sales revenue during the first seven months of this year, the Spader firm reported.
At the average large dealership, new RV unit sales revenue climbed 15.3% higher during the first seven months of this year to $8,074,791.
Mid-size dealerships, on average, experienced a 13.3% increase in new RV unit sales revenue to $3,248,757 through July 31.
The average smaller dealership saw its new RV unit sales revenue increase 6.2% during the first seven months of this year to $1,532,650.
