Decorator Industries Inc., a supplier of interior furnishings to the RV, manufactured home and hospitality industries, lost $68,734 during the first three months of this year.
The first quarter loss compares with a profit of $580,945 earned a year earlier.
Decorator’s first quarter sales declined 35% to $8.1 million.
“Although we believe that the current difficult environment will continue, we anticipate that lower interest rates, seasonal factors and constructive actions taken to address the industries’ problems will provide the basis for modest improvements over the balance of the year,” said William Bassett, chairman.
Because manufactured home production is down 40% and RV output is down almost 25% from a year earlier, Bassett said several of Decorator’s facilities are operating at or below breakeven volume.
