Following several design changes, local officials granted approval on plans submitted by Grass Valley, Calif.-based DeMartini RV Sales for a new 22,400-square-foot facility that would house the retailer’s showroom offices and service center.
According to The Union, Grass Valley, DeMartini currently operates from two sites located in the city limits. Owners Timothy and Margie DeMartini want to move the business to an 11.8-acre parcel, adjacent to city limits, that would include outdoor storage and display space.
The project’s design was revised three times in response to planning commission concerns about the building’s architecture, landscaping and road improvements. Vice-Mayor Mark Johnson said he supported the new plan and several members of the public spoke in support of the project.
The city council voted 3-2 to approve staff’s recommendations with the following conditions: the building color, use of rock and parking area landscaping will be subject to review by city staff and the dedication of an easement was recommended.
