Despite some lower-than-normal temperatures and even a touch of snow, the Carolinas Association of RV Parks & Campgrounds (CARVC) is ready to host its annual Conference & Expo in Myrtle Beach, S.C.
Even with some travel issues, the turnout at the conference has been solid, and Dee Witting, CARVC’s executive director, is expecting more than 100 attendees from at least five states.
The conference’s trade show is also filling up quickly, with around 60 vendors expected to take part today (Feb. 2).
On Saturday (Jan. 31), CARVC hosted its NFPA 1194 training and an evening reception.
Sunday featured a few sessions, including an update from OHI, sessions on campground development, social media and mobile apps.
Tyler Watts, founder of Broad River Campground, highlighted his park’s performance and how he developed the park to fit what would work at his location. His park features a mix of glamping domes, RVs and cabins, along with private hot tubs, a full activity schedule and more.
Through trial-and-error and a desire to constantly improve, Watts told attendees that the park has organically grown into a popular camping destination, even winning OHI’s Small Park of the Year Award in 2023.
On Sunday evening, CARVC hosted its Welcome reception, along with a first-timers event.
Today, CARVC officially kicks off its conference with an opening keynote speech from Ken Corbin, an author of eight books on sales growth, personal and business management.
There will also be more educational sessions focused on legal issues and workplace safety. During lunch, attendees will take part in a unique trivia event hosted by Bobby Sorden, CMO of App My Community.
This evening, CARVC is set to host its annual trade show, along with an evening reception and auction.
