Wakarusa, Ind.-based Horizon Transport Inc. will be featured on “Trending Today,” a program produced for The Discovery Channel, next Tuesday (Nov. 18) with airtimes of 8:30 a.m. for both the Eastern and Pacific time zones.
“Producers of ‘Trending Today’ came to Elkhart and spent a day videotaping our operation,” Joe Braun, vice president and general manager for the RV transportation company, told RVBUSINESS.com. “They timed their shoot to coincide with our annual Driver Appreciation Event — and it also was our 30th anniversary — so they were able to capture a lot of visually interesting aspects of our company.”
Produced by Electric Productions for The Discovery Channel, “Trending Today” features “today’s innovators and industry leaders, creating cutting-edge trends.” The show’s focus on Horizon will span about a third of the half-hour-long program.
According to Braun, “Our primary objective was to gain entry into a mass media market to get the attention of prospective drivers. We aren’t trying to market our transport service to the manufacturers, but to attract new drivers. This is a way to get into a few million homes.”
Founded in 1984 by Melvin and Ruth Ann Schrock and currently owned by their son, Marion Schrock, Horizon Transport is a respected leader in the RV transportation industry. The company currently has an independent contractor base of about 1,400 drivers, “but we’d like to bring in a few hundred more,” Braun noted. “As we all know, there’s a shortage of drivers, especially during the critical spring delivery months, and we’d like to shore that up.”
