Derek Dobson of Leisure Time RV Centre in Saint John, New Brunswick, Canada’s RV Dealer of the Year in 2002, recently was named president of the Recreation Vehicle Dealers Association (RVDA) of Canada.
Dobson is vice president of Dobson Companies, a family-owned firm that owns RV and auto dealerships. He has been involved in the RV industry since 1977 and transformed a small family-run dealership into a full-service operation representing some of the top RV manufacturers.
“It is a sincere honor and pleasure to be elected as the new president of the RVDA of Canada,” Dobson said. “I am very excited about the direction and growth the association has had over the past few years and I will strive to ensure its continued success.”
Dobson added that his “door is always open” and he looks “forward to working with all of our industry partners to insure our industry’s continued success.”
In addition to running his dealership, Dobson was a key player in the creation of the Atlantic RVDA, serving as its charter president for two years. He also has been an active member of the RVDA of Canada board since 1997, serving on numerous committees and contributing to the development of several new member programs.
The other RVDA of Canada officers for 2003-2004 are: Vice President Kim Brown of Traveland Leisure Center in Regina, Saskatchewan; Treasurer Ron Hall of Eldorado RV Sales in Lethbridge, Alberta and Past President Don Ferguson of Ferguson RV World in St. Thomas, Ontario.
