Dometic, a provider of leisure products for the RV, motorhome, truck, automotive and marine markets, today announced that the Dometic CFX series of portable refrigerators and freezers won the “Best Overall Tailgate Product Award” from Tailgater Magazine and the National Hardware Show.
The CFX Series, on display for the first time at this year’s National Hardware Show, was honored for its unique approach to ice-free cooling, high-performance freezing and refrigeration, and rugged construction.
“The CFX looks like a cooler, but is actually a powerful refrigerator/freezer that runs on 120-volt AC, 12-volt DC or 24-volt DC power. The CFX Series – stress-tested in the hottest, most remote areas of Australia’s outback – was developed for those who need extreme cooling in places where ice is not readily accessible,” said Derek Laninga, Dometic America’s director of sales for retail, in a press release. “With no ice to buy and no watery mess to clean up afterwards, the CFX is a great fit for tailgaters, as well as outdoor recreationists and RVers.”
The CFX Series comes in several models. The top-of-the-line CFX-65DZ is a dual-zone unit that offers 42 liters of fridge space and 19 liters of freezer space, which function simultaneously. The fridge compartment fits 60 cans and up to a standard wine bottle. It comes with two baskets, a divider to separate the freezer and fridge zones, and a lid for the freezer compartment. The CFX-35, 40, 50 and 65 are single-zone units that can be used either as a portable refrigerator or as a freezer. They range in capacity from 35 to 65 liters, including a dairy compartment.
All CFX models come with a soft-touch digital thermostat. A quick-chill turbo function runs compressors at maximum performance until desired temperatures are reached, from -8ºF to 50ºF. Once the temperature is reached, the CFX draws just one amp of power consumption to maintain the temperature. The thermostat memory retains preset temperatures even after being turned off. Rugged construction includes heavy-duty stainless steel hinges and strong latches, drop-down spring-loaded handles, removable baskets, detachable and reversible lids, a USB port for charging small electronic devices and a separate dairy compartment. AC and DC power cords are also included.
The CFX Series models are available at retail stores and online.
“Dometic is deeply honored that Tailgater magazine and the National Hardware Show organizers have recognized the CFX Series, a unique product that makes the most of Dometic’s pioneering mobile cooling technology. Many coolers can either be portable, or make and help keep their contents cold, but the CFX does both,” said Doug Curtis, vice president of marketing, Dometic Americas. “With a freezing temperature all the way down to -8ºF, Dometic’s CFX Series represents another milestone in mobile refrigeration.”
