For the third consecutive year at Elkhart RV Open House, Dometic, the Elkhart-based supplier of RV and outdoor leisure products, hosted dealers, OEMs, and partners at Wellfield Botanic Gardens, located off North Main Street in Elkhart. The 36-acre park offered an idyllic setting of gardens, water features, and sculpture with food trucks, product displays, music by Libido Funk Circus of Chicago, and games spinkled along the pathways.
Dometic VP of Marketing Trey Miller told RVBusiness that he expected the relaxed affair, which he described as an “Upscale Circus,” to draw more than 500 people, an increase of about 20% over 2018. “Something new this year, something we haven’t done before,” said Miller, “is to show our products in actual use situations. To accomplish this, we invited our partners from Keystone RV Co., Crux Expedition Trailers, inTech RV, Leisure Travel Vans, Nexus RV, and Winnebago to set up units for our visitors to tour.”
Also, guests were encouraged to visit product stations to learn about the latest Dometic products, play games like toss a roll of toilet paper through a toilet seat, earn raffle tickets and win prizes including Dometic coolers and portable refrigerators/freezers.
On hand were representatives from KOA Care Camps, Dometic’s official charity. Care Camps sends children affected by cancer to medically supervised camps where they can have fun with other kids who understand that they are going through, receive their regular treatments, and make lasting, joyful memories.
While Dometic’s Product Fair kicked off Open House Week, the company has more events planned including tours of the its new headquarters at 5155 Verdant Drive in Elkhart and hands-on innovations sessions in the Innovation Booth at the RV Hall of Fame indoor facility.
