The Dutchmen Manufacturing Inc. subsidiary of Thor Industries Inc. is planning to build between 15,000 and 17,000 travel trailer and fifth-wheel units this year, Dutchmen President Rich Florea told a Goshen, Ind., chamber of commerce audience recently.
Volume of 15,000 to 17,000 units this year most likely would place Dutchmen, if it was an independent company, among the Top 5 producers of travel trailers and fifth-wheels in terms of unit volume, a review of Statistical Surveys Inc. data reveals.
The other members of the Top 5, most likely, would be: Keystone RV Co., another Thor subsidiary; Forest River Inc. and Fleetwood Enterprises Inc.
Jayco Inc., quite likely, would also be among the Top 5 builders of travel trailer and fifth-wheel units.
If Dutchmen, which was founded in 1988, achieves its output targets, it will build its 250,000th unit this year, Florea told the gathering.
So far this year, retail sales of towable RVs are “very close” to keeping pace with deliveries from factories to dealers.
In addition to the popular Dutchmen brand, the Thor subsidiary also builds and markets travel trailers and fifth-wheels under the Aerolite, Adirondack, Colorado and Four Winds brands. It also builds the [email protected] “microlite” travel trailer.
