High-end Class C manufacturer Dynamax Corp., Elkhart, Ind., added by subtraction to this 2006 45-foot Grand Sport Columbia SURV mounted on a 34,600-pound GVWR Freightliner Columbia chassis. “We took one of our high-end Grand Sports and took the rear bedroom out to create a 12-foot garage,” said Rick Horn, vice president of sales and marketing. The coach, with an MSRP of $380,000, debuted last week at the 43rd Annual National RV Trade Show at the Kentucky Exposition Center in Louisville, Ky. A molded fiberglass rear cap with a recessed opening allows the Grand Sport SURV’s lift gate to be nearly invisible when closed. The Grand Sport’s full body graphics and a paint scheme that wraps around the rear of the coach completes the illusion. Featuring a standard 450-hp Mercedes MBE diesel engine, the Grand Sport SURV also is available in a 41-foot floorplan on a Columbia platform and in a 38-foot layout on a Freightliner M2 chassis equipped with a 300-hp Caterpillar diesel engine. “People are looking for some good-sized storage, but they also are looking for a high-end luxury coach,” Horn said.
