A ribbon-cutting ceremony will take place Thursday (April 10) for American RV & Marine’s new 1,450-space rally park and luxury RV resort near El Paso, Tex., the first sites of which will be available for RVers and rally participants later this month.
“We’re right on target,” James Paxton, president and CEO of American RV and Marine, said of the project.
Around 400 RV industry, banking and media representatives have been invited to attend the event.
The rally park and luxury RV campground adjoin a Western-style theme park that Paxton is developing on a 1,000-acre site next to his 16-month-old dealership in Anthony, Tex., about six miles north of El Paso.
About 80 resort sites and 260 rally spaces will be available for overnight camping later this month, Paxton said, adding that the Good Sam Club, which is planning a a 42-unit rally, will be among the first groups to use the rally park.
The rally park will eventually grow to 350 spaces, he said.
The theme park, which Paxton has called a “Disneyland for RVers,” will comprise restaurants, stores, dance halls and other attractions, all of which will be housed in 1800s-era buildings that resemble the way El Paso and Ciudad Juarez looked at that time. Paxton has said he is developing the attraction in collaboration with historians and theme park consultants.
