Artist’s rendering of Elkhart Health, Fitness, Aquatics, and Community Center

The Elkhart Health, Fitness, Aquatics, and Community Center, which has garnered strong support from several RV-related companies, will be presented to the public for the first time on Oct. 11 during a cocktail event scheduled for 5-6:30 p.m. at The Lerner Theater.

Subsequent events that will detail the multifaceted project will be hosted by The Lerner at an Oct. 24 lunch from noon to 1:30 p.m. and a breakfast on Nov. 16 at 7:30 a.m.

The proposed 170,000-square-foot facility, located at the site of the former Elkhart Youth and Community Center on East Jackson Boulevard, will serve the Elkhart community and surrounding areas and include:

  • A state-of-the-art Beacon Health and Fitness Center focused on wellness and medical solutions.
  • A first-class regional aquatics center available to the public and will support Elkhart high school programs and regional competitive events.
  • A community center with flexible meeting space, gymnasium and learning kitchen for nutritional classes.

The planned facility is designed to fill a gap in the area’s recreational offerings created when the Elkhart Youth and Community Center closed in April 2015. Beacon, owner of the project’s land and parent company of Elkhart General Hospital, is developing the project in partnership with the Community Foundation of Elkhart County.
