An Elkhart, Ind.-based bus maker plans to open a second manufacturing plant in nearby Nappanee, creating 73 new jobs by 2016.
The Elkhart Truth reported that AmeriTrans Bus Inc., a subsidiary of Fairbault, Minn.-based ABC Cos., will invest $2.17 million to lease, renovate and equip a 110,000-square foot facility in Nappanee, according to a press release issued by the Indiana Economic Development Corp.
The state agency has offered the company up to $400,000 in tax credits and up to $45,000 in training grants, conditional on the jobs being created. The pay range for the new jobs was not announced.
The city of Nappanee approved additional, unspecified incentives at the request of the Nappanee Area Chamber of Commerce.
The new facility will assemble double-deck buses for United Kingdom-based bus manufacturerAlexander Dennis. The buses will be used throughout the United States and Canada for sightseeing and community transit.
