The unemployment rate in Indiana’s Elkhart County’s fell to 4.6% in September, its lowest rate in nearly seven years, state officials announced. The area is home to the RV industry’s manufacturing hub.
According to the Elkhart Truth, the county’s jobless rate hasn’t been that low since it registered at 4.5% in October 2007, according to U.S. Bureau of Labor survey results released by the Indiana Department of Workforce Development.
The estimated 4,758 county residents who were unemployed also was the lowest since October 2007, before the recession hit when there were 4,558 people without jobs.
