Vandals caused thousands of dollars in damage and stole electronics valued at nearly $30,000 from an Elkhart, Ind., recreational vehicle dealership Monday (Jan. 16) morning.
TV station WNDU reported that workers at International RV World discovered four motorhomes – all equipped with high-end electronics – had been broken into.
It was the second burglary in the past week at the dealership as management said a similar break-in occurred last Thursday.
The thieves got in Monday by smashing out small windows on the vehicles, then removing electronic equipment, including plasma televisions and DVD players.
“It can hurt our business, because this is a large loss,” said Barry Murray of International RV World.
WNDU said Elkhart Police are investigating the incident. The dealership is now adding surveillance cameras and other means of protection to better secure the lot.
