Featherlite Inc., manufacturer of the high-end Vantare- and Vogue-brand motorhomes, reported its first quarter motorhome sales revenue increased 22%, but its total earnings were down 58%.

The company’s total sales increased 17% during the three months ended March 31 to $69.4 million. Its total earnings declined 58% to $652,000.

Featherlite also manufactures specialty trailers, and its sales revenue in that segment increased 15% during the first quarter.

Although Featherlite’s motorhome sales revenue was up, its motorhome segment profit margin became narrower during the quarter, said Conrad Clement, chairman.

Clement believes the new management at Featherlite’s motorhome division will bring about improved profits. The new motorhome division management includes a new president, Charles Dorrity, and a new vice president of sales and marketing, Bob Basse.
