The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), along with state and local governments, said Monday (July 24) it will be providing travel trailers as temporary housing to the New York state region’s flood victims.
According to a report in the Press & Sun-Bulletin, Binghamton, N.Y., displaced residents must meet certain qualifications to receive the units.
Applicants must be homeowners and have enough room on their property for the 8-by-30-foot trailers, as well as available utility hook ups, FEMA officials said.
The newpaper reported that FEMA will be calling homeowners who have already registered with the agency for flood aid to see if a travel trailer is the best option for their needs.
