Lower taxes, relatively cheap land and high visibility have lured several RV dealerships to Fife, Wash., a suburb of Tacoma.

Three dealerships opened in Fife so far this year. They are Baydo’s RV Center, Destinations RV and Korum RV.

Other dealerships in the town are Family Fun RV, Great American RV and Xplorer Motorhomes.

One advantage Fife has over other communities in Washington state is no business or occupation tax, according to Helen Ware, Fife’s business license officer.

Land in Fife also is less expensive than in Tacoma or Seattle, which is about 20 miles north.

As would be expected, the RV dealerships have clustered along I-5, which carries an estimated 150,000 motorists daily through Tacoma. I-5 also is a main artery for tourists traveling between California and British Columbia, Canada.
