A fire that caused an estimated $2 million to $3 million in damages at an Ottawa, Ontario, Canada recreational vehicle dealership Saturday (April 16) is believed to be the result of dry, windy conditions that sparked at least 60 brush fires over the weekend.
According to the Ottawa Sun, more than 100 RVs, motorcycles, ATVs and snowmobiles at Powersports & RV Canada were damaged or destroyed after a fire broke out behind a construction company’s shed that borders the dealership.
Before the fire was brought under control it burned through about 2.5 acres. Most of the powersports merchandise was crated and kept in two sheds on the property line.
The paper reported that an open-air fire ban will remain in place until Ottawa receives a significant amount of rainfall.
