Fleetwood Enterprises Inc., Riverside, Calif., has added four hybrid floorplans with soft-sided, tent-like extensions – one featuring three extensions and a traditional sofa slideout – to the year-old Pegasus and Orbit companion fifth-wheel and travel trailer light-weight lines. The Pegasus and Orbit were introduced for the 2005 model year at last year’s Louisville Show. In lengths of 19 to 26 feet with aluminum frames and laminated fiberglass sidewalls, each floorplan features a widebody 8-foot width and 80-inch interior ceilings. Fleetwood says the new hybrid trailers provide extra sleeping accommodations and more storage space in a towable designed for hauling by SUVs and pickup trucks with higher fuel economy. Two Pegasus/Orbit floorplans can sleep eight people and two others are capable of sleeping 10. “Our industry has seen a tremendous desire for more light-weight trailer options,” said Chris Braun, executive vice president. With aerodynamic front profiles, low floor heights and independent torsion suspension, dry weights range from 3,400 to 4,200 pounds. Interiors feature large overhead cabinets, curved countertops and stylized window valances. Retail prices start at $15,813.
