Fleetwood Folding Trailers Inc. a subsidiary of Fleetwood Enterprises Inc. has launched its model-year 2004 folding campers under the Fleetwood brand name, along with a new ultralight travel trailer series under the Caravan brand.
From 1989 until recently, Fleetwood Folding Trailers, based in Somerset, Pa., marketed its folding campers under the Coleman brand name, but the company is in a legal dispute with The Coleman Co. over use of the Coleman name.
On Aug. 18, a Kansas state court issued a temporary injunction prohibiting Fleetwood from using the Coleman name.
Fleetwood has appealed and it intends to take the matter to trial, according to a statement issued by the Riverside, Calif.-based parent company last month.
Meanwhile, Fleetwood is distributing to dealers its folding campers under the Fleetwood brand, along with the Caravan EXT hard-sided expandables and its new Caravan Micro-Lite ultralight travel trailer.
Fleetwood Folding Trailers’ website, www.colemantrailers.com, now links directly to The Coleman Co.’s Internet site. Consequently, Fleetwood Folding Trailers has launched two new sites: www.worldsbesttrailers.com and www.foldingtrailersbyfleetwood.com.
