Fleetwood Enterprises Inc., Riverside, Calif., for 2007 has introduced a lightweight towable sport utility travel trailer (SURV) – called the Nitrous Hyperlite – designed for towing behind half-ton pickup trucks. “The majority of tow vehicles out there are half-ton trucks, and obviously that’s a market that we want to pursue with our toy haulers,” explains Bob Rogers, product marketing manager for Fleetwood’s travel trailers. Nitrous Hyperlite comes in four floorplans, none with slideouts, in lengths of 19 to 36 feet with garage areas measuring eight to 13 feet, depending on floorplan. The 19-footer, with a dry weight rated at 4,200 pounds, is 20% lighter than a comparable Gearbox, Fleetwood’s other towable SURV line. Retailing for about $24,000, the Nitrous Hyperlite features a 7-foot, 2-inch locking ramp with a non-skid surface and flip-down extension plus smooth laminated fiberglass sidewalls and oversize overhead storage compartments. Options include dual electric rear bunks, an interior/exterior work bench, a high-powered “Rock the Box!” stereo system, a fueling station and a carpeted cargo area.
