Fleetwood Enterprises Inc.’s RV Group has selected Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. as its preferred tire provider.
The new relationship, revealed today (Dec. 3) during the National RV Trade Show in Louisville, means Fleetwood will migrate Goodyear tires on to all of its towable and motorhome models through model year 2005.
As a result, Fleetwood’s motorhome chassis and towable RV frame suppliers will install Goodyear tires on their products before shipment to Fleetwood’s RV assembly plants.
“Goodyear’s extensive research and innovation in the RV market, as well as the company’s commitment to service and dealer support make Goodyear and excellent tire choice for RVs,” said Chris Braun, senior vice president of Fleetwood RV.
“We are interested in pursuing strategic alliances that will ensure the best experience for our customers — from the top down to the tires,” Braun added.
Meanwhile, Steve McClellan, Goodyear’s vice president of commercial tire systems, said, “This relationship is great news for Goodyear and for our network of servicing dealers who provide down-the-road RV service and replacement tires for this important group of customers.”
Goodyear, which has developed an extensive series of tires specifically for RVs, now supplies 60% to 65% of all towable RV tires and 30% to 35% of all motorhome tires, said Kris Fettig, Goodyear’s RV marketing specialist.
Goodyear works with RV manufacturers and chassis suppliers “in terms of technology to design tires specifically for RVs,” Fettig added.
