Fleetwood Enterprises Inc. has promoted Frank Winegar, former head of diesel motorhome operations in Decatur, Ind., to vice president – RV Group, making him responsible for all areas of the company’s motorhome and travel-trailer operations.
Winegar will continue reporting to Chuck Wilkinson, Fleetwood’s executive vice president and COO.
Winegar’s responsibilities now include product development, product planning and sales and marketing, in addition to operations.
Winegar joined Fleetwood in December 1999 as director of motorhome division manufacturing and was promoted in 2000 to operations manager of the diesel plant in Decatur. He was promoted again in January 2002, to vice president – RV operations.
As the head of Fleetwood’s diesel motorcoach operations in Indiana, Winegar and his staff “really led the turnaround of the RV Group,” according to Ed Caudill, Fleetwood’s president and CEO. “His contributions there included aligning the plant’s capacity to market demand and spearheading the construction of our new full-body paint facility.
“I’m confident that Frank’s style of teamwork and his concentration on profitability and customer satisfaction will make him successful with his new broader responsibilities,” Caudill said.
Prior to joining Fleetwood, Winegar worked for five years for the Carrier Corp. subsidiary of United Technologies as vice president – operations and product development in the refrigeration division.
From 1972 to 1995, he held a number of positions in operations- and division-level management at the Square D Co.
