After an absence of one year, Fleetwood Enterprises Inc., Riverside, Calif., regained the retail market share lead in Class A motorhomes in 2002, according to Statistical Surveys Inc., an independent market research firm.
Fleetwood, which was No. 1 in Class A’s from 1982 through 2000, regained the top spot with a 20.8% market share last year.
Winnebago Industries Inc., Forest City, Iowa, was No. 2 at 18.1% and Monaco Coach Corp., Coburg, Ore., was No. 3 at 18%.
Monaco was the retail market share leader in Class A’s in 2001.
After Monaco, there was a sharp drop-off to Coachmen Industries Inc., Elkhart, Ind., which had a 6.3% retail market share last year, and Newmar Corp., Nappanee, Ind., at 6%.
The Winnebago brand was the leading Class A motorhome brand in 2002 in terms of retail market share, Statistical Surveys also reported.
Fleetwood’s Bounder brand was No. 2 and its Southwind brand was No. 4 in Class A’s.
Winnebago’s Itasca brand was No. 3 in terms of retail market share for Class A’s last year and Coachmen’s Coachmen brand was No. 5.
