Fleetwood’s motorhome shipments, in terms of units, were up 30% during the three-month period that ended April 28, the manufactured home and RV builder reported today (July 15).
Meanwhile, Fleetwood’s folding camper shipments increased 10% and its travel trailer and fifth-wheel deliveries were up 1% during the February-through-April period.
A total of 2,647 Fleetwood Class A and Class C motorhomes were shipped to dealers during the three months ended April 28, compared with 2,031 units shipped during the same period a year earlier, the company reported.
The Class A brands built by Fleetwood include the Bounder, Southwind, Discovery, Pace Arrow, Flair, American Eagle, American Dream, American Heritage, Fiesta, Excrusion, Expedition, Providence, Terra and Revolution. Its Class C’s include the Jamboree, Tracker and Tioga.
Shipments of Fleetwood motorhomes were significantly lower during the summer and early fall of 2001, when compared with the same portion of 2000, which explains why Fleetwood’s motorhome shipments during the 12 months ended April 28 were up only a modest 3%. There were 8,366 Fleetwood motorhomes shipped to dealers during the 12 months ended April 28, compared with 8,148 units delivered during the same period a year earlier.
Meanwhile, shipments of Fleetwood travel trailers and fifth-wheels totaled 7,921 units during the February-through-April period, compared with 7,839 units delivered a year earlier. But during the 12 months ended April 28, Fleetwood’s travel trailer and fifth-wheel shipments were down 17% to 27,263 units, compared with 32,987 units delivered a year earlier.
Fleetwood’s folding camper shipments during the February-through-April period totaled 4,965 units, compared with 4,506 units delivered during the same period a year earlier. However, Fleetwood’s folding camper shipments declined 6% during the 12 months ended April 28 to 17,946 units, compared with 19,090 units delivered during the same period a year earlier.
