The head of Fleetwood’s RV division, Richard E. “Dick” Parks, “has agreed to step down,” Fleetwood spokesman Lyle Larkin confirmed today.

A search of a new senior vice president of the RV Group will be initiated, Larkin said.

In the interim, Fleetwood’s three RV Group vice presidents will report directly to Nelson Potter, president and COO. The three vice presidents are: John Weiss, motorhomes; Carl Betcher, travel trailers and fifth-wheels; and Pat Scanlon, folding campers.

Fleetwood is the leading RV producer in terms of unit volume but it lost market share points last year.

During the spring and summer of this year, Fleetwood built too many units prior to the softening of the motorhome market, so the company had to slash wholesale prices and temporarily close its motorhome assembly plant in Riverside, Calif.
