Fleetwood Enterprises Inc.’s RV shipments increased by 10% during the fourth quarter of its fiscal year 2004, the company reported today (July 8).
Included was a 14% increase in motorhome shipments, a 10% increase in travel-trailer and fifth-wheel deliveries and a 6% increase in folding-camper shipments.
Fleetwood shipped 3,020 motorhomes to its dealers during the three months ended April 25, compared with 2,657 motorhomes in the same period a year earlier.
Meanwhile, the company shipped 9,037 travel trailers and fifth-wheels during the February-through-April period, compared with 8,236 units delivered a year earlier.
Fleetwood also shipped 3,786 folding campers to its dealers in the three months ended April 25, compared with 3,556 a year earlier.
“Our motorhome division continues to perform exceptionally well, with consistent growth in revenues, operating income and operating margins over the past three years,” said Ed Caudill, president and CEO. “We expect continued progress by expanding operating margins and launching the innovative products in our pipeline.”
Concerning the company’s travel-trailer and fifth-wheel business, Caudill said, “While we are encouraged by the sales performance of our improved travel-trailer products, the division’s operating results still were disappointing. We continue to focus on improving our production efficiencies and ensuring timely delivery of our product.”
During the 12 months ended April 25, Fleetwood’s RV shipments increased by 5%, which included a 13% increase in motorhome deliveries and 14% increase in travel-trailer and fifth-wheel shipments, which were partially offset by a 15% decline in folding-camper deliveries.
Fleetwood shipped 11,203 motorhomes in fiscal 2004, compared with 9,935 in 2003.
The company shipped 34,351 travel trailers and fifth-wheels to its dealers in the 12 months ended April 25, compared with 30,016 the previous year.
Fleetwood shipped 14,543 folding campers to its dealers in its fiscal 2004, compared with 17,118 in 2003.
